Liposuction
Feel like you've tried all you can to get
fit, but still struggling with a saggy, fatty, unattractive body
area? Well, friend... you're a liposuction candidate!
Liposuction surgically removes fat cells from
particularly concentrated areas.. This is usually fat that doesn't
respond to
fitness or dietary
routines. Common areas of treatment include hips, thighs, abdomen,
arms, neck, knees, and ankles.
The Procedure:
A hollow, cylindrical tool called a cannula is inserted under the
skin in the area of treatment. Cannulas come in varying diameters
for different body areas, body types, and volumes
of fat being removed. At the opposing end of the cannula is
a vacuum-like machine that removes the fat. At the end of the
procedure, surgeons can apply a foam that alleviates skin expansion
and bruising, which almost always promises better results.
Patients who aren't the "ideal," mostly fit,
candidates for traditional liposuction surgery should not shy away
from pursuing the procedure. We can most certainly talk to overweight
patients about their options as well.
Liposuction is usually performed on an outpatient
basis, under general or local anesthesia, in Premiere's private operating room.
Post Procedure:
Normal routines such as a work schedule can usually be resumed in
1-2 weeks. It should be 2-4 weeks before anything more strenuous
is attempted, and it's usually around 6 months or more before bruising
and swelling are completely gone.
As long as you continue a routine of healthy
eating and regular exercise, the results of liposuction are permanent!
Costs:
Can vary based on area of body being treated and volume of fat being
removed.
